Panhandle Laser Vision Institute offers laser refractive cataract surgery through the LensSx® laser.
With laser refractive cataract surgery, the laser provides HD image of the eye and produces the location, depth, and length of the cataract. Using this unique map of your eye, the laser will provide customizable precision and reproducibly in the creation of the incision. This is the single most important step in your visual outcome.
The laser will then divide the cataract into microscopic pieces that can be easily suctioned without causing some of the inflammation that traditional surgery may cause.
With the femtosecond laser approach to cataract surgery, our ophthalmologists create a precise surgical plan with a sophisticated 3-D image of the eye called an optical coherence tomography (OCT). The goal is to create an incision with a specific location, depth and length in all planes, and with the OCT image and a femtosecond laser, it can be performed exactly without the limitations of a human hand.
Our patients benefit from a truly innovative solution that allows for customization in cataract surgery. A bladeless, computer-controlled laser allows the surgeon to plan and perform your surgery to exact individualized specifications, not attainable with traditional cataract surgery methods.
